The TUPY Brazil side outlet tee (figure 221) has three ports, each at right angles to the other two. It is used where a line has to change direction in two planes at a corner and take a branch at the same time.

On a plain tee all three ports lie in one plane. At the corner of a building, or on a connection to a piece of equipment, the line sometimes has to rise and take a branch in another direction as well. Building that up from an elbow and a plain tee costs two or three components and several extra threads, and takes more room.
The figure 221 side outlet tee gives the same geometry in one casting: three female ports, each axis at right angles to the other two.
The material is blackheart malleable cast iron to grade JMB 350-10, produced hot-dip galvanised and black. Sizes run from 1/2 to 2in.
Dimensions and weights by size: ½in code 1215004, a = 28, z = 15 mm; ¾in code 1215006, a = 33, z = 18; 1in code 1215007, a = 38, z = 21; 1¼in code 1215008, a = 45, z = 26; 1½in code 1215009, a = 50, z = 31; and 2in code 1215010, a = 58, z = 34 mm. Galvanised weight runs from 0.110 to 0.983 kg.

The weight depends on the size: the 1" size, for example, weighs 0.309 kg. The weights of every size are taken from the official TUPY catalogue and are listed in the table on this page, so they can be used to work out shipping weight and freight cost.
TUPYBSP fittings are threaded to BSP in accordance with ISO 7-1; the male thread is tapered and the seal is made on the thread itself. BSP is not interchangeable with NPT, and screwing the two together will leak. TUPY also produces a separate NPT line, which is covered in the downloads section.
According to TUPY's technical catalogue, the working pressure of TUPYBSP fittings is 25 bar between −20 °C and +120 °C. It falls to 20 bar above 300 °C, and intermediate values are interpolated. The design pressure in the hydrostatic test is 100 bar for sizes up to 4 in and 64 bar for 5 in and 6 in.
The TUPY Side Outlet Tee is manufactured to ISO/EN/NBR ZA1. TUPY malleable cast iron fittings are built to ISO 49, EN 10242 and ABNT NBR 6943, and their threads follow ISO 7-1. The factory certificates can be seen in the standards and certifications section on this page.
