Pakistan is a price market with plenty of cheap material already in it, so TUPY competes on what the cheap material lacks — grade JMB 350-10, traceable certification and a full figure range — rather than on price alone. Galvanised iron (GI) and malleable iron (MI) threaded fittings reach Karachi from the Dubai stock or in a container direct from Brazil, both quoted.
Not everywhere. For unspecified domestic plumbing there is cheaper material available locally and from China, and no argument here will change that. Where TUPY is bought is project work with a specification behind it: fire protection designed to NFPA, where the submittal names UL Listed and FM Approved components; industrial steam, condensate and compressed air lines, where malleable iron (MI) is rated for pressures ordinary steel fittings are not; and gas distribution, where the DVGW approval is what is being asked for.
The test is simple. If the consultant is checking a certificate, TUPY is competitive. If the buyer is checking only the invoice, it usually is not - and it is better to say so than to waste a week quoting.
Karachi and Port Qasim both take direct sailings, and for a settled quantity the direct route from Brazil is usually the cheaper of the two options because the freight is spread across a full container and the goods are handled once. The Dubai stock is the alternative for mixed orders, sample quantities and anything needed before a production slot could be booked - a short leg from Jebel Ali.
Both are quoted in the same document so the landed cost can be compared rather than argued about.
TUPY works to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 with Bureau Veritas surveillance, and every Pakistan shipment includes the mill test certificate and certificate of origin, so the grade can be proved rather than claimed.
Where a project or authority requires a local conformity registration in addition to the above, that is handled per project with the consultant and the importer of record.
Quoted into Pakistan: elbows, tees, sockets, unions, bushes, nipples, plugs, caps, crosses and their reducing versions, 1/4in to 6in, galvanised and black, in BSP and NPT Class 150 and 300, with the TUPYPRES press-fit system as the no-thread option. Every figure number, dimension and weight is on the site.
On certified project work, yes - where the specification names UL, FM or DVGW and the submittal is checked. On unspecified commodity plumbing, usually not, and we would rather say so at the enquiry stage.
Yes, direct from Brazil for container quantities to either. Mixed and smaller orders come from the Dubai stock instead; both are quoted.
The figures used in fire protection work, identified in the catalogue and quotable separately from the general range. The listings are held by TUPY in Brazil.
Yes. NPT to ANSI B16.3 in Class 150 and Class 300 comes from the same foundry as the BSP range; send the specification with the enquiry so the thread form and class are confirmed before quoting.
Send the figures, sizes and quantities and both routes will be quoted - ex-stock Dubai and direct from Brazil - so the landed cost can be compared.
