A tank fitting is the part that mounts on the body of a water tank and takes the pipework outlet off it. Unlike an ordinary fitting it has to carry the head of water and stay completely watertight where it meets the tank wall.
It suits all common water tanks — polyethylene, PVC and fibreglass. The engineered form gives a full seal and keeps the connection from weeping.
The usual failure in a low-quality tank fitting is cracking at the connection, either from over-tightening or from the stress of the water load. The TUPY tank fitting is made in malleable cast iron to industrial standard, which resists cracking and impact.
Its coating is in two layers: hot-dip galvanising plus an industrial paint, for maximum resistance to permanent damp and hard site conditions. Supplied in sizes 1/2in to 1 1/2in.

The weight depends on the size: the 1" size, for example, weighs 0.409 kg. The weights of every size are taken from the official TUPY catalogue and are listed in the table on this page, so they can be used to work out shipping weight and freight cost.
TUPYBSP fittings are threaded to BSP in accordance with ISO 7-1; the male thread is tapered and the seal is made on the thread itself. BSP is not interchangeable with NPT, and screwing the two together will leak. TUPY also produces a separate NPT line, which is covered in the downloads section.
The figure 350 tank fitting is designed to connect a pipe to the wall of a tank or water cistern. It passes through the tank wall and is secured from the outside with a sealing washer and a nut. The hole diameter needed in the tank wall for each size is given in the dimensions table on this page.
According to TUPY's technical catalogue, the working pressure of TUPYBSP fittings is 25 bar between −20 °C and +120 °C. It falls to 20 bar above 300 °C, and intermediate values are interpolated. The design pressure in the hydrostatic test is 100 bar for sizes up to 4 in and 64 bar for 5 in and 6 in.

The threads are clean and free of burrs, and the galvanised coating is even.
