Most fittings bound for Oman clear through Sohar, which sits close enough to Jebel Ali that the Dubai-held stock usually reaches an Omani site sooner and cheaper than anything else. Galvanised iron (GI) and malleable iron (MI) threaded fittings are supplied either from that stock or, for a concentrated container load, direct from Brazil to Sohar — whichever carries the lower landed cost.
Sohar is the named port of entry, and for Oman the choice between the two routes is unusually clean. Sohar sits close enough to Jebel Ali that the Dubai stock is quick and cheap to move, which suits mixed orders, replenishment and anything a contractor needs before a production run could be booked. Container volumes for a single figure, or a project buying its whole requirement at once, are usually better shipped direct from Brazil.

The industrial belt is the anchor: Sohar and Duqm carry refining, petrochemical and metals plants, and those sites take steam, condensate and compressed air lines where malleable iron (MI) is used at working pressures ordinary steel fittings are not rated to. The threads there are as often NPT as BSP, because much of that engineering is written to American practice.
Away from the industrial sites, water and plumbing networks in Muscat and the interior take galvanised iron (GI) fittings in BSP, and fire protection work written to NFPA calls for the UL Listed and FM Approved figures specifically rather than the general range.
