تؤدي صامولة TUPYPRES في النظام الميكانيكي ما يؤديه الكبلن في النظام الملولب: وصل ماسورتين متساويتي القطر طرفاً بطرف. والفرق في طريقة الإنجاز.
ففي العمل الملولب تحتاج كل وصلة إلى قطع طرف الماسورة وشريط إحكام ومفتاح ربط، وتتوقف جودة النتيجة على مهارة الفني. أما في نظام TUPYPRES فتدخل الماسورة في الوصلة وتُشدّ الصامولة على حلقة الإحكام — وصلة ميكانيكية تُنجز بمفتاح ربط عادي، بلا مكبس.
الحلقة الداخلية توفر الإحكام، وضغط الصامولة على الحلقة نفسها يمسك الماسورة ميكانيكياً. أما في النظام الملولب فكان على السن أن يؤدي الوظيفتين معاً.

The صامولة TUPYPRES is made in 7 sizes, from 1/2" to 2.1/2". The full list of sizes, with the dimensions in millimetres and the weight of each piece, is in the dimensions and weights table on this page.
The weight depends on the size: the 1" size, for example, weighs 0.625 kg. The weights of every size are taken from the official TUPY catalogue and are listed in the table on this page, so they can be used to work out shipping weight and freight cost.
An ordinary wrench. No press machine and no special tool is required. Cut the pipe square, deburr it, push it into the fitting up to the marked depth, then tighten the nut by hand and finish with a wrench to the torque and number of turns given in the TUPYPRES catalogue. If a joint is taken apart, replace the ring set before making it up again.
TUPYPRES is a mechanical compression joint. The pipe goes into the fitting and the nut is tightened — no threading, no welding, no flame and no press machine. A ring set already assembled inside the fitting (rubber sealing ring, compression ring and locking ring) makes the joint tight as the nut is drawn up. Installation is far quicker than threading and calls for less skill; the main uses are fire protection, water, gas and compressed air networks.
According to the TUPYPRES catalogue, on steel pipe: water up to 16 bar at 80 °C, liquid fuel up to 16 bar at 80 °C, compressed air up to 10 bar at 80 °C and gas up to 10 bar at 70 °C. Lower figures apply on PE80 and PE100 polyethylene pipe, and the system is not recommended for compressed air on polyethylene.
The TUPYPRES system can be installed on steel pipe to NBR 5580 and NBR 5590 (equivalent to EN 10255 and DIN 2440/2441) and on PE80 and PE100 polyethylene pipe. A transition fitting is also available for joining steel pipe to polyethylene pipe.
Where dimensions permit, genuine TUPY fittings carry cast markings such as the factory mark and nominal size. Check the figure-specific catalogue and packaging as well. The threads are clean and free of burrs, and the galvanised coating is even. The surest check is to weigh the piece and compare it with the weight table on this page; counterfeit pieces usually come out lighter than the official catalogue weight.
